FIONA CLARK: UNAFRAID ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK ALBUM OUT NOW

2021 saw the release of critically acclaimed documentary Fiona Clark: Unafraid from filmmaker Lula Cucchiara. The film recounts the ‘singular vision’ of iconic New Zealand photographer Fiona Clark (Kiran Dass, The Guardian) – how she overcame censorship, homophobia, sexism and debilitating physical injuries to become one of Aotearoa’s most respected social documentarians.

Today sees the international release of the original soundtrack album from composer/musician Frances Libeau (i.e. crazy, Dear Time’s Waste). Working with director Cucchiara to draw on a diverse palette of contemporary and historic musical influences, the soundtrack weaves through Fiona’s narrative and those of her subjects with the deft sensitivity Libeau brings to all of their projects.

Frances Libeau (fka Claire Duncan) is a queer composer, sound designer and writer from Tāmaki Makaurau. Libeau’s sonic compositions feature in interdisciplinary collaborations with artists worldwide, such as Sriwhana Spong, George Watson and more. Libeau’s recorded and performance projects Dear Time’s Waste and i.e. crazy have gained accolades worldwide.

The album is released as the film begins its international film festival circuit, beginning with 2SLGBTQIA+ InsideOut festival in Toronto, where the film screens on 26 May.
