Beck's New NZ Music : Introducing Supervillains RMC 'My God'

Powered by an explosive blend of classic hip-hop & criminally insane theatrics, SuperVillians are a covert collective of cloaked craftsmen who have been taking the New Zealand music scene hostage since 2011.

This enigmatic crew of mic prodigies and turntable terrorists came to life in Grey Lynn, Auckland last year and consists of Fred Bishop (aka Fred Bish), Eden Jouavel (aka Dr Black), Manu Walters (aka Dirty Quarters), Piata Turei (aka The Sweaty Tooth Madman) and Liam Bree (aka Debris the stitched mouth).

The group’s cohesive blend of old-school rhythms, grinding loops, lyrical wizardry and frenetic onstage antics provides an overpowering assault on the senses. With a sound which is firmly rooted in the classic hip-hop of the late 80’s and early 90’s – seamlessly fusing sampled funk and soul elements with dynamic beats and a ferocious verbal barrage – these hip-hop misfits have created an entirely organic, original and visceral sound.
