December 2019 marks the 40 year anniversary of AK79. This compilation expertly chronicles and captures a raw snapshot of the punk subculture in Auckland during the late 70s and features The Swingers, The Scavengers, Suburban Reptiles, The Primmers, Proud Scum, Toy Love, The Terrorways and many more. In 2014 AK79 was honoured with the IMNZ Classic Record award, presented at the Taite Music Prize ceremony.
To mark this special occasion, Flying Nun Records are presenting the AK79 40th Anniversary Edition reissue, on 2LP (Limited Edition Ruby Red Vinyl), 2LP and CD. It will feature all songs ever featured on any version of AK79, with all tracks given a remaster by Simon Grigg, and additional liner notes by Grigg, Ripper Records’ Bryan Staff and The Terrorways’ own Kerry Buchanan.
