Folk/Pop artist, Mahoney Harris writes intimate, wistful but hopeful tunes. Her voice has been described as 'honest, charming and beguiling'.
Mahoney began playing guitar in the summer of 1996 while enduring a hot NYC summer. As soon as she could master a few chords she began writing songs and playing out at local open mike evenings around the city and in 2000 soft-released an e.p. entitled Nowhere to Roam.
In 2009, with the help of Tom Healy (Paquin, Hannah Curwood) Mahoney recorded her debut e.p, But They Do, receiving warm praise from music media.
Reaching her PledgeMe crowd-funding goal in February 2013, Mahoney recorded her new album We Didn’t Feel Alone with producer, Tom Healy, Wayne Bell and a handful of other talented NZ musicians. We Didn’t Feel Alone was released in September 2014.
“The real deal you might say”
Graham Reid, Elsewhere, September 2014
“…given her warm voice, her natural lyricism, her fine love of words, and her fresh guitar, she is someone to watch in the panoply of kiwi music talent whose Turangawaewae is deeply rooted in Kiwi soil and soul, but whose notes and passion have the touch to reach around the world.”

“The main surprise here is Harris’ voice, which lifts the music to another level, recalling country-pop singer/songwriters of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The voice is charming, honest and beguiling – one that might not be heard on the radio, but should”.
